When I work with a beautiful piece of wood, it isn't enough to just carve one side of it, I need to make sure that I make the most of it by turning the whole thing into a work of art. This was one of those pieces where the grain has so much going on that I couldn't even guess what species it is. The burls, tiger stripes, and bark inclusion all together like this is quite a rare occurance, and being sanded to 10,000 grit allowed the full beauty of those features to be revealed.
